| I wonder if that is how they make those pictures of people in the Wall Street Journal? They look like drawings, but they are eerily realistic. They usually give me the creeps.

This will also work in PSP8.
Open your image, then click Layer, duplicate. Hide your original. Select the copy layer, then either click on Adjust, Hue & Saturation, Hue/Saturation/Lightness, and slide the saturation slider all the way to the bottom, or you can get about the same effect by clicking image, greyscale. Duplicate the desaturated layer, select it, then click Adjust, negative image. With that layer still selected, click on layer, properties, and set the blend mode to dodge. Then click Adjust, Blur, gaussian blur, and experiment with the radius. I set mine to 9. -- 4 cams, 5 cats, 7 days a week.=^..^= |

| reply to Edit This Many years ago (long before photoshop) I used lithographic film to get similar shots. It takes a while to get the "eye" needed and a lot of the frames were nothing but black blobs on a white background. After some practice you can get some really good ones. Some look surrealistic and down right spooky, and others come out looking like an artist drawing. It was interesting and really helps to develop a photographic eye.
After thinking about it I think I'll get a few rolls and try it again - been a long time. |

Tried something a little different...after all the above steps, I added another layer set to overlay, and colored it a little. -- 4 cams, 5 cats, 7 days a week.=^..^= |

I find this topic very interesting because I have spent the last few hours messing around with a script in Paint Shop 8. The script is called black and white and it comes with the program. You just run it and you get this. -- Bidden or unbidden, God is always present. [text was edited by author 2003-07-29 21:25:14]
