 | Latest letter from MSN DSL Team I received this email from MSN re: DSL service.
Dear MSN Internet Access Customer:
In an effort to continue to help make your transition to another DSL Internet provider a little easier, we have been working with Prodigy Communications and believe they may have a DSL Internet solution for you.
We have identified customers such as yourself who reside in the Prodigy Communications service area and are recommending you contact them to see if your telephone number and location qualifies for their DSL Internet service and this special offer.
Prodigy Communications, the nation's largest consumer high-speed DSL Service provider, and a pioneer since 1984 in the online industry, has a special offer for MSN customers affected by the MSN transition with the following promotion:
Sign-up for one year and receive Prodigy DSL High-Speed Internet Service for only $49.95 per month. That includes a free modem (after $175 rebate) and $99 net installation charge (after $100 rebate) for a total savings of $275! (There are certain requirements, additional charges, cancellation fees and other limitations relating to this offer. You can obtain all the details regarding this offer when you contact Prodigy.)
You can call Prodigy today, via a special MSN toll-free number, 1-888-876-5583 to find out if Prodigy DSL Service is available in your area. Make sure you refer to this special offer for MSN customers. So, hurry, this offer ends on September 30, 2001.
If you qualify, they have a group of specially trained support representatives to assist you in making a smooth transition to Prodigy Communications DSL Internet Service.
We hope this information is helpful and again, we apologize for this situation and appreciate your patience.
Sincerely,

Bet when you call the "special MSN" number you get the regular Prodigy sales office. That's what I got when I called Qwest. Plus, they had no clue when I asked about the transition from MSN. There's no special deal either - Covad's offering that $175 modem rebate to ex-Northpoint subscribers.
All I can say is if there are any doubts about MSN's DSL future, these letters should end them. They wouldn't be sending their customer base to competitors, signing 1 year contracts, if they really believed they would be able to service us in the near future. ------- Dear MSN Internet Access Customer,

| reply to dameek2 From what I understand, MSN is trying to get out of the DSL business, too much stuff that happens with it. They're making deals with others ILECs / CLECs to give lines to them. One good thing - They are at least trying to help you get DSL back. -- -M "Official Tweaker of the New Millennium" irc://irc.dal.net/#dslreports | |
