| | Aol just plain sucks
An Aol user knows nothing about computers other than how to turn it on. Aol is not an ISP Aol is an online service. I will never use AOl. Only losers use Aol.

| AOL works for me. I've been using AOL for awhile and i haven't had any problems at all - Even when i had dialup and AOL was my isp I would get respectful speeds when downloading off napster or on the net - Now i'm using AOL BYOA - To all those people bashing aol i would like to know what other ISP gives you such a huge mailbox! - i can't even mail my friends on MSN a decent bitrate mp3 without it being returned telling me their mailbox is full lol what a joke -
- Sticking to AOL.

That is exactly one of the reasons(of many) why their AOL filesharing community these days is one of the best lately and alot more safer then any p2p out there(any good experienced file sharer knows about this and MANY have got BYOA for 9 bucks just becouse of it). Try sending a decent size file to a hotmail account, ect..they wont be accepted for being to large . The only other somewhat safe haven which equals AOLs filesharing community in the way its set up, would be various newsgroups(and the GOOD ones you PAY for.).

Like I say in my post AOL is not an ISP it is an ONLINE SERVICE. I would never use AOL because of the fact I don't want all the bloatware that makes AOL look and act the way it does. The thing that keeps people like me away from AOL is I would have to use their bloated software. I get a 25 meg inbox with my SBC Dsl.

Big Deal, with Aol its either 250 e-mails or 500 allowed in new mail and each can be 16mb without my mailbox being considered full.
| | | | | | I'd also like to point out a few other things:
while POP3 accounts let you store as much mail as your computer can hold, if you don't check your mailbox frequently or 1 person sends you a large file your mailbox will be considered full. With Aol that is not the case as the size of each e-mail is irrelevant (provided each is under the 16mb limit), only thing that counts is how many and that would be: 1000 in new mail, 550 in old mail and 1000 in sent mail regardless of the size of each one (just verified those figures - I actually thought it was a bit less than that so now I'm glad I checked)
Not only that, with Aol's mail system, mail stays on their server unless you choose to download a file, therefore you don't have to worry about downloading a virus unintentionally like with Outbreak.

LMAO at your absolute arrogance, stupidity and ignorance. I have used Aol for 5 years, these days with byoa and lets see....I know how to format, fdisk, edit the registry, customize nearly every setting in both Win98 and XP, my computer is dual booted with both of those OS's and soon to be triple booted with Linux, know html, javascript, how to take my computer apart and put it back together again etc etc etc.

There are plenty of Aol users like myself these days, most people don't stay newbies forever
| | | | | | Re: Aol just plain sucks I use AOL DSL for my business and Optimum Online cable for my home. I use AOL DSL for my business because they are the cheapest DSL provider for businesses in my area. Other DSL providers, like Verizon and Earthlink, jack up their business DSL prices. I was about to cancel AOL DSL when Verizon introduced their Freedom packages for business, which lowered their business DSL price to $47.00. When I called to cancel my AOL DSL plan AOL lowered my price to $39.95, with unlimited dialup, for a year and without a contract. They also gave me a month free from DSL charges, since they charge DSL (now $16.05 for me) and dialup ($23.90) separately. If all of the DSL providers that I mentioned had the same prices, I would have chosen one of the other two over AOL, but since AOL has the better prices, I choose AOL. | |
