Re: Comcast Bandwidth Exceeded Notice!!!said by hqh510: I know that my computer is set to download 80KBps throughout each day
Yeah let's say you download this 12 hours each day that is 103 gigs a month. Normal bandwidth hogs take up 30-50 gigs. Of course you are going to get a letter about it. You might get away with it if you had DSL but not cable. [text was edited by author 2003-08-14 15:04:25] |

My computer that was downloading the radio streams was on 24 hours a day throughout the month. So basically, I ate up 6.9GB per day alone just from my computer. There was 31 days in July, so that would mean I ate up about 214GB in that month. By these calculations, this is just by using up 43% of the bandwidth available given by Comcast with their 1500Kbps. said by JonIrenicas:

Why did you need to stream so many radio stations 24 hours a day every day? Was it out of pure fun? Because you can? |

Because I liked the music that's played over the Internet 24x7x365. Go to www.di.fm. Trance music. I hate the music that's playing on the regular standard non-digital radio in the car. So I compile my own music on CDs to listen to. Now these are much more enjoyable to listen to than all that crap played in the car radio. said by JonIrenicas:

If you were to actually go and read through all my posts (you sure have a lot of patience and time to do so ), you'd find out I actually listen to these streams at a later time. Think TiVo as what it does for TV. Get the picture? said by PacCoast: I agree. Who the hell can listen to 5 radio channels at the same time anyway?

I'd like to see you use TiVo to record five stations 24x7. |

I'd like to do that too... Except that I don't plan on getting one. I'll just use my computer instead. Hehehehehehe. Besides, there's nothing worth recording on TV 24x7. Maybe for a few hours, but a lot of the shows are crap. said by AnonymousDude: "Think TiVo as what it does for TV."

What's next only 15 e-mails a month?
I could only get about 10 e-mails at a time. I have to keep AOL because I get about 30-40 e-mails a day as well as all of the spam. Comcast pretty much sucks. If I get that letter, I will cancel my access on the spot. |
