Where's the President?

Heading to a $1,000 a plate fund raiser. 'Might' address the country at 9:30.

Where's the Vice President? Vacationing in Wyoming. No plans to return.

Not to be overly critical, but I'm thinking vaguely pretending someone has a handle on things while tens of millions of people go through a crisis MIGHT be a good idea.

Fox News just announced that he is in California for the weekend and will probably address the issue later tonight in a press conference.

Isn't Bush still suppose to be on vacation though? I thought he took the whole month of august off. If this is the case, isn't the president and the vice not suppose to take vacation at the same time? I could be wrong.

It all comes back to Bush bashing, sooner or later. Even when lightning strikes a power plant in Canada, it all comes back to Bush. Yawn.

He's on a working vacation here in Texas. I think it's Crawford. However, he was in California for the weekend where he's expected to address the nation in about half an hour.

I'm not bashing him at all. I was just wondering, didn't know he was on a working vacation. Just didn't know if both the pres and vice could be on vacation at same time.

Not bashing, rather making an observation.

As much as I like bashing Dubya there is not much he is going to be able to do about this. This seems like a straightforward technical problem. The media keeps stressing this was not a terrorist event.

Sounds like it was a fault on one of the major transmission lines that when it dropped out caused the rest to overload causing the cascading failure.

Why the hell should the President speak. The power went out, OMG its a national crisis.

And Presidents never go on vacation until they are out of office. Whenever they leave the White House for a non official visit somewhere its called vacation.

Geez just a bunch of Bushwhackers... What is he supposed to do, use his superpowers to turn everything back to normal again?
Make a television address, but... the people who really need to hear it can't watch tv anyway.

You're not alone Ameritec...

What do you expect him to do....physically fix the power stations himself.

Give him a little slack, he does appoint people to oversee this stuff. Its not like Grayout Davis and his money woes. I know many of you liberal fools will tend to tie this in with that.....fat chance.

What do you expect from a liberal from Flint. This comes from a city that actually gave a majority vote to Fieger for Gov in 1998, the most disgusting piece of 5hit on the planet.

WTF are you talking about. It was a general question about if they could be on vacation at the same time. I didn't say anything about bush I also don't understand where you got me as a liberal just from asking a question. I previously stated that this isn't about bush.

I really enjoy being called "dufus".

I wasn't suggesting he don a hardhat. But skipping a fund raiser so he could make a timely statement, return to the east, and pretend he's in commander and chief seems like the "presidential" thing to do.....guess I expect too much.

Never mind. A president stuffing his face at a $1,000 a head dinner while Cheney naps on his Wyoming porch is impressive.....most impressive....you're right. No need for leadership. It's only the largest blackout in the HISTORY OF THE PLANET.

We don't need leadership in a half-day power outage. We need power, and people who know how to produce it.

Yes....thanks....that much is obvious....still think it's in poor taste not to cancel the fund raiser....
