aitechGuru. Kneel join:2000-12-19 Boston, MA | Northeast Hosting/Network Providers Reliability Hey, I'm thinking now would be a great time to test some NY/NE region hosting providers claims of uptime, redundency, and power backup.
Could we start a thread listing providers with known data centers in NY or affected area, and pings, tracert's etc to determine the effects on any of those, or NE routes in general.
This has to be done quickly - as when power comes back, there will be a new set of issues to test for.. re-routing.

 | Here's a traceroute from Speakeasy in Philadelphia to Speakeasy in New York. But the real test will be if this continues for an extended period -- see if they can keep the generators fueled.

Re: Northeast Hosting/Network Providers Reliabilit Well, NAC (DSLR's host) has certainly passed the test. »www.nac.net/announcements.asp?Ac···ew&ID=28
said by NAC: Our network in Parsippany still has power, and our nodes in Newark and Manhattan are presently running on backup generator. Because this is a significant and widespread outage, it is possible that telephone services which are not under our control may not be functional.

Re: Northeast Hosting/Network Providers Reliability I host from home which probably does not count for what you are looking for but here is how it went for me during the power failure with a couple of NY metro providers (Acedsl in NYC and Cloud 9 in White Plains)
I had access to Cloud9 for about a half hour into the power failure before I lost connectivity to my default PPPoE gateway to them. They came back around 8pm EST
Acedsl went down around the time of the power failure. However I can ping my default gateway and others on their network but I could not get out of their network nor to their DNS or mail servers. As of this post they have not come back online yet.
Throughout the power failure my ADSL modems never lost connection to the CO. Good job Verizon! It makes me wonder how direct Verizon DSL customers made out. |

 | Yeah I did, I actually do it every 15 minutes automatically to monitor my servers in case of a drop in service so i can tell my clients. Before: Tracing route to denimstudios.com [66.246.85.232] over a maximum of 30 hops:
