The NYISO should buy themselves an accurate clock. The lights in my office in downtown Manhattan started flickering about 4:07, black smoke from an electrical fire started pouring out a street level vent immediately at Liberty Plaza across the street at 4:08, and my computer system at home recorded a shutdown at precisely 4:09:08 p.m. (give or take a 10th of a second). Power continued to flicker for about 10 minutes (enough light to see our way in the corridors and stairs, but also enough power to keep the battery-powered emergency lighting from kicking on).
NY's Governor Pataki denied that there was a fire downtown, but we sure saw and smelled it (though it was probably a result of, not a cause, of the blackout).
How can you trust these people to assure us that this wasnt a terrorist related incident when they dont even know what time it is? | |
