How can you say it's not terroism when....

How can say it's not terroism when you're not exactly sure what happened? I hear a lot about some lighting strike hitting one the the main lines from Canada to the United States near Nigara Falls. I checked the Doppler Radar in that area and there was no Thunderstorm at the time they said it got hit. And even some of the local weathermen say the same thing, one had a radar echo but believes it was a "false" echo, meaning it was something else other than precipitation, and a thunderstorm is usually a yellow/orange/red coded surronded by lighter rains indicated in green. So I dont see why they say it's deffinitly not terroism when they don't even know what exactly happened, if you ask me it sounds like someone went and literally cut the line, but thats just my opinion.

Have you ever heard of heat lightning?

According to the National Weather Service, the Canadian weather service called Environment Canada (or a similar name), the local Buffalo stations which are tied into the Doppler Radar, the satellites used by all agencies that measure lighting strikes, there was no lighting in or near the falls. And I live and work about 2o miles from the falls and power plants.

I have some weather knowledge and I will tell you that "heat lightening" is not lightening because of heat. Heat lightening is seeing lightening, from a thunderstorm far away. Heat lightening will not strike anything unless the thunderstorm gets closer and moves into the area. If the thunderstorm is elevated high enough, and your skies are clear, you will look to the sky and see lightening, but you will not hear any thunder, that being because the lightening is so far away. There is always thunder after lightening because the air has to contract...and "heat" lightening is so far away, that you can't even hear the thunder. So it could not have been lightening, plus the National Weather Service Radar showed no Thunderstorms in the area, in fact not even in the Northeastern part of the Country or Southeastern Canada at any time yesterday. High Pressure was in control of the area.

because the EXACT same thing happened over 30 years ago (duno exaclty when, saw it on the history channel). when one plant goes out sence all the plants are connected if the plant that went out was drawing more power from another plant over the grid, theres suddenly an overload of power on that plant which then goes out and it goes on and on..

I can say it is not terrorism *BECAUSE* even if it is a worm that has caused the problem, it was a worm directed at Microsux... and not at specific power stations on the grid.

I can say that *EVEN IF* it is terrorism, this is an accidental result of some worm programmer's efforts to attack Microsux and *NOT* the result of some worm programmer deliberately attacking the grid, because that seems to be the way the code reads.

No, it is not a direct, deliberate, terrorist attack upon the grid. It is an accident, a mistake, of either programming, some sys admin somewhere (likely an MCSE) or just some fluke for which we can not account.

Were it terrorism, deliberate terrorism, things would have gotten much uglier, much quicker... ONCE the power is down things get interesting.

According to a news story on tv, even what happened was not caused by terrorism, the terrorists will now see the weakness in the power grid.

One thing that leads me to believe that it was not terrosim is that nothing happened when the power went out. I mean you would think that once the power is cut, OK the terroist would attack, maybe they figure they cut the power they can disable all *detection* devices/services or ways of like radar and stuff like that. But again, no one knows what happened, so therefore no one can say if it was terroism or if it was something else because they simply do not have a cause, but the lightening thing, I HIGHLY doubt...read my little theory about lightening above .

What led ME to not even think of the word "terrorism"? The fact that the Ontario/Northeast US area has been straining its power plants for the last ten years due to increasing population growth and corporate suits being too lazy to upgrade their crappy, inefficient coal power plants. And I thought people were over the terrorism thing.

Terroism is still going on, they just caught someone with a missle they snuk in to hit a commercial air liner, it will take quite a long time for people to get over 9/11, far more than the 2 year mark we are now approaching.
