Who cares what the DMV says, the cops make the law and if a COP told me that I could drive I guess I can eh? DMV ain't gonna run after you and get you, its the cops that stop people on the streets and if they said its OK, its OK.

And what's gonna happen is a cop who KNOWS the law is gonna pull you over one day and fine you for driving without a valid driver's license.

Just cause one cop doesn't do his job right doesn't mean the whole NYPD is the same way.

Too lazy to read all the previous posts, but I'm in a similar situation. You can drive with a D licensed driver in the passenger as long as you have completed at least 6 lessons in driving school. That is all.

You people are so Afraid of COPS jeez u got a Dj license u can drive on it thats it, and where we live the cop said u can drive on it so we do !!!

So what if the DMV instructor said u cant drive on it ?? And u payed all that money for all ur lessons and appointments and the time wasted for it, so WTF is the main purpose of a DJ license ?? if not driving !!!!!!!!

I love how people don't read the actual examples given of punishment for driving with a DJ.

Know what? I don't even know why I bother to try to help people. Christ someone asks a question, they get the right answer, and don't listen anyway.

Maybe I should just stick around the watercooler.

I guess this explains why insurance rates are so high for drivers under 25.

Because women read their license restrictions

Statistically, women tend to have fewer accidents.

yeah, but in some cases mommy and daddy are paying so kids don't realize the implications of breaking the law.

Yep. And the insurance companies probably figure that by the time you reach 25 you'll be paying your own insurance - so you'll learn the law.

Sometimes it's like that, You want to help, but people won't listen.
DMV prohibits driving in NYC for drivers with DJ class.
However, police officers I met have no knowledge about this restriction. I asked officer at Greenpoint station and he told me that I can drive alone as long as I have a driver license.

As bklynite See Profile said, it's illegal and if You get caught, there won't be any excuses and can result in license suspension or termination for a while.

Driving can be fun, but beware. I'll turn 18 very soon, so I don't worry. Also there are new laws requiring new drivers under 18 to meet certain criteria before getting a license.
