Just get one of those one time only cards that you can use for one transaction. That way if someone does get it they can't access your money because it's all used up.

Some credit card providers will give out temporary numbers for use on the Internet. They will allocate as much money as you request them to allocate, and then will push all that money into the newly created 'one-time use account'. So your real account is protected (what about cracking the bank's db?), and whoever hijacks the fake number..well..they get a fake number -- Throwing your used Pentium into the ocean only makes the fish smarter.
