How do I find my DSL phone number?

I had Northpoint and they had to run a new line to my house for service. How do I find out what that DSL phone number was?

You dont need the phone number and even if you did get it, it wouldnt do you much good. What you do need is the circuit number or ID (this is the same as a phone number in the world of the ILECs) There are 3 ways to go about getting it. 1) Call your local ILEC and ask for all the services at your address, (make up a story about thinking someone else is trying to steal a line or what not and you want to check it out at the DMARC) or 2) Go to the DMARC, when a line is installed for the CLEC they ahve to tag it with the circuit ID number and work order number. Unless the CLEC removed it, which is possible, you can get the ID off there. or 3) call your ISP they also have to have the ID number to make sure when they do the install that they are using the correct line that was installed for you. I hope this information helps.

I wanted to get the number off of the line i was using for northpoint with all the coils removed etc to get a distance from the CO reading. I was hoping it would come up shorter than my normal voice line and therfore make me eligable for covad's 15000 ft rule.

ILEC stands for Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier - in plain english this is your local phone company. for you in Ill i believe its Ameritech. You can get there phone number either by the phone book or the operator or even online. The CLEC stands for Competitive Local Exchange Carrier. I hope this information helps
