The poll is less than accurate. I know you wanted to split who's using what but you need to separate the software/vs Hardware firewalls.

Anon | For next time it would be good to add:
Standalone Hardware (Appliance)
Cisco PIX (especially with the new SOHO targeted PIX506)
SonicWall etc
Standalone Software (Dedicated firewall server)
Checkpoint Firewall-1
Raptor etc
Router with specific firewall software (ie more than NAT and ACLs)
e.g. Cisco Router with Firewall IOS
Missing Software solutions
e.g. Danu's Terminet (a 5 star software option)
However that still leaves hybrids like Nokia/FW-1 and SunCobalt's VelociRaptor...might be best to just list them all in a big list!
I would also vote for adding "None" 'cos a lot of people still don't use anything and a lot of ISPs are happy to maintain this ingnorance seemingly to stop increased "Internet fear factor"! |
