Sedated3 : It shouldn't be ISP specific. The new 06.01.02 firmware on the older modems is basically a bug fix.

You can also revert back to the previous firmware the modem had installed by uninstalling the firmware upgrade.

Having said that, I think the most prudent way to upgrade is to use either the DGN Icon or the management utility and check your PVC settings - - actually the most prudent way is to not upgrade at all unless you're experiencing problems.

Here are mine. Getting any of this stuff wrong will of course knock you offline.

SBC users will be able to tell you what's normal on the network.

If the upgrade is botched, you can easily do a hard reset of the modem. All it takes is a little bit of care, a screwdriver and a jumper cable to hard-reset the modem as ChiDSL66 has kindly pointed out to the group:

»Hard Resetting Westell B90-36R516

»Re: Hard Resetting Westell B90-36R516

»Re: Hard Resetting Westell B90-36R516

If it's working, don't flash it. :) Without a hard reset button, a botched attempt at upgrading the firmware can only be fixed by popping open the modem and jumpering it so that it boots from the Alcatel Dynamite Chipset firmware.

And of course, always be mindful of the VPI*VCI settings before you do anything. FWIW Verizon and SBC are both 0*35.
--
Cordially,
Sed
[OOL/CVC 10.13mbps/950kbps CABLE $44.95 && Verizon 1525kbps/136kbps ADSL $29.99]BBS History Repeats Itself!
