They won't do anything to prevent a trojan or other malware from connecting out if it manages to make it on to your system. For that reason, it's a good idea to run software firewall to monitor outbound connections, even with a router.

I have a McAfee and Norton firewall that I use to use before I got the router. Some once told me that the router should be sufficient so I just unstalled my software firewall. What do you guys think?
