| Brutal Customer Service At one time, customer service for cable internet used to be alright when Persona was called Regional Cablesystems and they didn't actually have internet. They always owned the cable lines of course, but now they have bought out a couple local ISPs and they don't sub-contract their internet so much. Unfortunately, this also means that with cable internet comes the worst customer support you could imagine. Their slogan is "Power to the people" yet for some reason they thought it best to close their customer service department all together and open a little kiosk in the mall. Now, if you want to move, or cancel your service, you have to call them up, and book an all day appointment just for them to come pick up the modem. We are no longer allowed to just drop it off.
Well, I was moving, and needed to cancel my service, so having no other choice, I scheduled a pickup for the modem. I waited around all day, until about 4:30pm then decided to call them. I asked what time the guy was supposed to be there, and they said it was an 8am-5pm appointment, and I had no choice but to wait. I waited 'till 5:30, and still no one showed up, so being that it was my last day in the apartment, I had no choice but to take the modem with me, which they promptly fined me $345.00 for doing. So on a subsequent visit to Sudbury, I dropped by their office, told them to take the modem, they said I had to make an appointment again (I should have given them my new address and make them drive across the province for it); but I simply argued with a manager until they took it and they signed a receipt that I had made up stating that they would reverse the charges. Hopefully I see a refund on my next visa, or they will be finding themselves in court.
They are the most uncooperative people I have ever met, but unfortunately, they have a monopoly. Don't you hate that? |
