Unofficial speed increase tracking thread

If you have Comcast's new speeds, post your town here.

I'm here on the north side of Chicago and this morning I was pulling 3 Mbps. I checked my modem with DocsDiag and it still showed the old config file. I restarted the modem this morning, and again this evening when I got home, but the config is still showing 1800/256. The speed tests I did this morning and just now at chi.speakeasy.net are showing my speeds at 3 mbps.

Here's another test to the servers in Jersey. I think it's a coming to Chicago!! Sweet!

I'm still at 1.8 here in the 'burbs of Chicago. I can almost guarantee you that Chicago will be the last area to be upgraded because of all the problems we've had lately.

Wanna make a little wager?

I bet you Chicago gets it before the Bay Area does. We are LITERALLY the last place to get any form of deployment for ANYTHING, since if unreliable, the results would be detrimental to the company as a whole (re: stock price dropping + customer cancellations). Most deployments are delayed here by about 6-8 months due to managers not wanting to be hasty, as well as the bandwidth usage going through the roof.

On the other hand, once Chicago gets it, the Bay usually gets it shortly thereafter. So keep your fingers crossed, man.

What surprises me is that Philadelphia and the NJ suburbs of Philadelphia didn't get it first. Usually the pattern with Comcast rollouts is Philadelphia and its NJ & PA suburbs followed by the NJ suburbs of New York. At first I thought they were targeting less populated areas, but with places like Pittsburgh getting it, that kills that theory.

Anyone want to speculate on Comcast's reasoning behind choosing which areas get it first? To me it looks like ex-ATTBI areas (for the most part) are getting it first.

When will NYC/NJ market get its speed increase? This is the largest and last market to get anything.

Isn't it amazing how everyone thinks their market is the last to get something. Have some patience. Everyone will get the upgrade soon.
