Re: SBC DSL Connection Issue Thx I will check out this link.
I have determined that the techs are pretty clueless about DSL at my ISP. I guess it is due to fact they kinda new to the service. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt, for now. I have since a prior post put @provide.net to my login string still no go. |

We are in the same boat (just started offering DSL) so I can sympathize with the somewhat clueless nature of Support. But, I wouldn't let them slide. If a DSL customer called our business and asked for support that Tech Support couldn't help them wtih, they could easily ask for a network guy who would then take their call. The folks at your ISP should do the same. It's nice of you to give them a break though.... it's not an easy learning curve if you are an ISP used to dialup-only support.
If your ISP is new to this all, as we are, they might have made an incorrect order - causing the config to be 8/35 instead of 0/35. It should be 0/35 but you may have luck trying 8/35 -- that is unless somebody on here previously told you that you were definitely configured for 0/35.
And call your ISP up and ask them to provide you with the realm/domain you are supposed to add on to your username since it cannot be a just a username, and ask to speak to somebody in Networking at your ISP.

 | Yeah they have told me they have escalated it to the network team and they would contact me but I have not heard from them as of yet. I am planning on bugging them again today. |

Re: Connection Issue to ASI Partner provide.net According to the information, you are provisioned to 0.35 according to the order your ISP submitted, and as a courtesy I ripped you out of our router and rebuilt you back to the Digital Realm ISP tunnel information..
Just as an fyi, you can use the following modems and test your connection
efficient 5260,5360,5100,5861 Netopia/cayman 3220H/3546 *Westell 516/2200
*note: don't leave the westell 516 on there very long or the amplifiers in there begin to break down the DSL signal due to how clean the line is from the RT.. -- Fast and furious!! 225lbs lost and a future that I never dreamed of... Whodathunkit?? |

 | Thank You very much!
I have a Speed Stream 5200 which is the same as a 5100 except it has router capabilities (which I am trying to use). I do have it set for 0.35 at the moment but was not sure within the PPPoE 0.35 settings if I have them correct.
I will try again when I get home to see if it works. When you looked at my account did it tell whether they had me set for username@provide.net or something different, I am assuming @provide.net |

OHnetguyPremium join:2003-01-16 Toronto, OH | If all else fails, you should be able to put that 5200 back to completely default settings and then just toss in your login@realm and password without changing anything else. I think an out of the box 5200 will default to all of the correct settings (or will autoconfigured anything specific) to work through SBC.

Are you able to bring up some pages but not all? OR are you able to bring up no websites?
If you are able to bring up NO websites, it may be that your provider is going to require that you use a proxy server for web browsing - You may want to ask them.
If you can pull up most pages but not some things, like yahoo personals and some others here and there, then its probably an MTU issue - and if its an MTU issue you may have to do some tweaking using the references available here. If that type of tweaking doesn't work, then your ISP is going to need to make modifications. When delivery of DSL is over an L2TP tunnel (which is hte case with your provider most likely if they are using SBC) then MTU will be an issue. For us (an ISP) we have actually went and modified our configurations to adjust for the MTU situation that arises with L2TP tunnels.
You also might want to check to make sure that you don't already have a proxy set up in your web browser - If you do for some reason, it may be that you no longer have access to that proxy via your DSL connection and thus you have to remove the proxy.
Tweak test is here --> »/tweaks - assuming you can even pull it up.
Hmm - you say your Dell laptop works fine on the DSL setup but only your PC can't browse? Check the proxy settings for your network connection on the PC.

 | Update! I was able to finally correct the issue! I had the Firewall feature turned off but within that I had to disable ADS (attack detection system)because it was enabled anyways lol. Why it was working on my laptop and the rest of the PC's is beyond me.
Now I have a different issue the router is not allowing me to play any online games. I have entered all the UDP & TCP ports for my games in the IPFilter and Port Forward sections of the settings and even tried setting up a DMZ but still unable to get it to connect |

To be honest, I'd have to say (although it's not my call) that your current problem is beyond the scope of what oughta be covered under this forum. Time to call the manufacturer of your router, or your ISP (if they provided the router) and have them help you (although configuration of your firewall probably isn't covered by their support, nor should it be).
If you are sure that you have ALL of the correct ports mapped with the correct protocol specified, the first thing you should do after saving the configuration is to reboot the router (I wouldn't be surprised if those changes require a reboot). I'm sure you must have received documentation with that router - it should tell the tale.
Regards,
Mike |
