They supplied an Efficent Networks SpeedStream 5360 ADSL modem.

HOWEVER: I still have the modem/gateway provided by (the now defunct) DirecTV DSL. I tried setting up this modem to work with the SBC DSL but to no avail. DirecTV DSL used a static IP address.

Is it possible to do this? I just find it annoying to have to log in.

AND, if I can't do this, is the modem good for anything else/anyone else? (Please! No joke suggestions!) Maybe for someone whose DSL provider uses static IP addresses?
