the slow node is probably wired on rg-59 coax where it splits off fiber or rg-6; nowadays it should be rg-6 if not all fiber. someone who is on a highly saturated node and getting good, reliable linespeeds has a big pipe (rg-6 or fiber) for node infrastructure. it's amazing how many cableco's still have not completed upgrading their nodes. but what the heck do i know? i'm just a dumb former(laidoff) verizon dsl tech turned clec dsl tech.
