Sound Blaster Audigy 2 driver installation problem

My system:

Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz 800MHz FSB
Gigabyte 8IPE1000Pro (rev1) mobo
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 sound card
Windows XP Pro (SP1)

Right now the sound card shows up as two separate objects in System->Hardware->Device Manager:

?/! Multimedia Audio Controller
PCI Slot 4 (PCI bus 2, device 1, function 0)
?/! PCI Input Device
PCI Slot 4 (PCI bus 2, device 1, function 1)

The card was OEM and came w/o a drivers CD. When I go to Creative Labs' webiste to get the drivers, I get one option for this card/OS combination: AUD2DRVLB030425.exe - which, after running, says this:

"Setup could not find any previous version of Sound Blaster Audigy 2 WDM Drivers installed. Setup will now exit."

I'll try calling Creative Labs on Monday but from what I've heard about their customer service I'm not holding out too much hope. Does anybody know how to handle this?

Thanks!

Have you run the ADD New Hardware Wizard in the Control Panel?

The
?/! Multimedia Audio Controller
Should be showing up as Sound Blaster Audigy 2 (WDM)
And The
?/! PCI Input Device
Should show up as Creative Game Port...

If the Wizard doesn't detect the card you can probably force it to pick from a list of devices and choose soundcard or gameport and then Creative and see if any Audigy drivers are in the there...

Also maybe removing those two devices in Device Manager and rebooting may allow XP to detect them again with the appropriate or more appropriate set of drivers.

Once they show as Sound Blaster and Creative you should be able to apply the current update(s) at the Soundblaster site:»us.creative.com/support/ ··· wnloads/

Another thought is to extract that file AUD2DRVLB030425.exe
you got to a file using some unzipper.
If you have Winzip or Winrar you can just right click and choose the extract to (name of folder).
And then run the ADD Hardware or possibly even Update Hardware driver from the device manager and point it to the
Win2k_XP file in the folder.

Then besides just the drivers you might want to download a few of the separate components at least:

Creative Speaker Settings version 1.00.56
Date : 11 Feb 2003
Size : 2.99 MB

Creative Surround Mixer version 3.00.57
Date : 11 Feb 2003
Size : 3.60 MB

Creative EAX Console version 1.00.54 Date : 20 Dec 2002
Size : 3.65 MB

Nevermind, I looked at the files for your product and the fix I recommended will not work for you. Sorry.
