My DSL provides Rhapsody Radio which is similar. The biggest difference is that you can't rewind. You can FFWD to the next track and you can skip about 10 tracks before it won't let you skip ahead anymore unless you switch to another station. You can also set up playlists of your fave artists but it mixes other artists in too.
The way it is controlled and the reason you can't have more control is that they can only play a certain number of songs by an artist in a given period of time.
BTW, MIT is streaming this, not broadcasting it. Each listener can stop and start their stream without affecting the others. How silly would that be if everyone could control the station and what others hear? Some jerk would sit and mess it up all day long and kill the system that way.
Digital Cable requires a box. That is how they lock you down and control what you do with the TV signal you paid for. Why do you think they are pushing the switch to digital? Extra box revenue will be huge if you think about all those folks out there who have multiple TVs in the house.
Get DishTV before the cable robbers gouge you again.

Hey depending on your company if you get RFDTV channel on Dish network you can watch "Big Joe's Polka show" Unless your house quests come from the midwest this show will drive them out of your house screaming into oncoming traffic. I get a kick out of the old guys dancing, about all the moves is their arms. The bands on this show go from real good to really bad. -- I love Irish Terriers, Low Brass, and the electric blue glow of an 866 mercury vapor rectifier tube at night.
