Re: arp info overwritten (OpenBSD) I see that Linksys is now up to Ver 1.45.7 dated 9/16/03 firmware for the BEFW11S4 V4. That's typical for linky (I have one also). Mine was purchased in June and had Ver 1.45.1 firmware which would just die during data transfer. Tried to upgrade to 1.45.3 and locked up the unit. Sent it back to linksys for new replacement which came with 1.45.3. If Linksys would spend 2-3 months additional testing before releasing new products, they would make a killing, but their profits are going to customer support issues. |

 | When I had a D-Link router, I upgraded the firmware with the new one on their site. Big mistake, the thing kept rebooting itself every few minutes. I contacted their support and informed them of it, which they seemed to think it was something I did wrong. I then told them that maybe they should do some testing before releasing such updates. Their reply was that they suggested I return the unit and get something different.
Soon after, they released a new firmware that specifically said it fixed the rebooting issues that their previous version had.
That gave me a laugh. Sorry, a bit off subject, but your firmware test comments reminded me of that. |

 | I guess what I'm trying to figure out is how this piece of hardware is/was causing the problem. Is it that the router is setup for DHCP service internally and is/was mistakenly offering the service externally?
Any info on this would be greatly appreciated (esp. links). Being that Linksys has supposedly acknowledged the problem, then surely there must be documentation regarding the bug in the firmware.
Thx.
