You're right there. All your post is spot-on. I use SBC Yahoo, but couldn't care less about the content. I use the E-mail, but I ditched Broadjump a long time ago. SBC Yahoo is just a connection to the internet for me and my home network.
I sometimes wonder how many SBC Yahoo users are refugees from AOL/dial-up? I don't think I'm unique in that I came to DSL because I wanted a faster connection, and didn't want all the BS content that AOL gave. SBC Yahoo basically takes up where AOL leaves off, but with better customer service and less content-driven connectivity, and a more "flexible" internet experience. Kind of like when a bird learns to fly, if you catch me.
I think SBC would be good if they gave instructions on how to connect without the Broadjump... or if they gave a leaner version of it, with a simple PPPoE instead of all the "Connection Manager" bloatware and spyware they give out. But then Yahoo doesn't know what ads to give you... -- I once accidentally spilled spot remover on my dog and he disappeared.
