howie1Premium join:2003-04-08 Antarctica kudos:4 1 edit | Acronis TrueImage 7: First Impression Having been a satisfied TrueImage 6 user for the past year or so, I decided to give the new TI7 Server Edition trial a test run. So far, I am thouroughly impressed, especially with the new incremental imaging option. It allows you to just backup the changes you've made to your last image, without starting from scratch. I installed a few new programs and chose incremental image and the backup was done in a few minutes. Not only does it backup the changes you've made but allows you to restore to any time you've made a change in the same image (see above pic). I think this is the only disk imaging software that allows this. Another new feature is the SecureZone which restricts access to your images from anything else but TrueImage. I found that full restores are done in about half the time as TrueImage 6 (at least in my case). A check image feature is also integrated into the program. You can download the server edition trial from this link (you must uninstall TI6 first): »www.acronis.com/files/trueimages···d_en.exe

 | Howie,
Thanks for the info. It sounds like they made a good program even better. I just wish they would get the thing out. I get a new Dell computer tomorrow, and I'm ready to go. |

I agree with that. Been waiting a while for that feature. -- "For long you live and high you fly But only if you ride the tide And balanced on the biggest wave You race towards an early grave." |

So, if you want to restore a full backup, you start with the initial backup followed by each incremental after that? -- Write your questions down on the back of a $20 dollar bill and send them to me |

No need to... you just choose the date and time of the image increment you want to restore back to and you'll get a full restore up to that date/time. |

 | reply to howie1 Howie,
Did I understand you to say that you actually did a restore with the TI 7.0 demo? The TI 6.0 demo would not allow you to do this.
Thanks,

howie1Premium join:2003-04-08 Antarctica kudos:4 1 edit | reply to howie1 You cannot restore from the boot cd, but a restore initiated from Windows is possible with the demo, which has a 15 day trial period. From Acronis: Trial-version limitations: *15 days trial version *Impossibility to create and restore a disk image when Acronis True Image 6.0 is launched from the bootable rescue media

 | Howie,
Thanks for the info. I'm getting a new computer in a few hours and did not want to got through the install Ghost, install TI, uninstall Ghost routine--expecially when I'll be getting TI 7.0 in a few weeks. I thought perhaps I could use the demo in the interim. I guess it's probably best just to do the Ghost then TI routine.
BTW, TI 6.0 does not let you boot to a TI restore CD and then create an image of one partition and store it on another partition of the same drive. I hope this has been fixed as promised.
Thanks again,
Bob Anderson |

You're welcome... By the way, I hope you burn your images on another partition of the same drive you imaged to CD-R/RW or DVD-R just in case your drive containing the images fails... Otherwise, it kind of defeats the purpose of a system backup. |

 | reply to howie1 Just took a quick look at v7.0 myself and have to see it is fantastic.
Incremental updates are soooo fast and being able to schedule backups is slightly useful as well of course!

Every 6 user is gonna want this new version! I hope the update cost is reasonable and that the workstation version is available soon... |

Especially as you can immediately do an Incremental image on top of a previous v6.0 image |

Howie, were you using TI server-edition 7 while TI workstation-edition 6 was still on your machine?
Thanks, Cheers, Jan. |
