Internet Gaming and PingsI've started playing the Medal of Honor Spearhead demo. The best ping rate I get is 100. Is this a decent rate? I have cable internet. |

There's your problem. Cox is not known for good pings. |

Do you get 100ms on all servers? Try MOHAA servers near your physical location.
You could ask more about MOHAA in the gaming forums.

Its not horrible, but that just means you'll be at a disadvantage over players with pings in the low 20's and 30's.
cable usually has faster speeds but higher pings dsl usually has lower speeds, but lower pings. |

Actually, the higher your ping, the harder it is for the enemy to kill u... |

Yeah maybe when your ping is 2000 100-150 is like the worst though cause it feels like your lagging but its not really bad, I find it harder to play with 100-150 pings then when I get 200-300 like on 56k or something. I normally get 20-60 pings depending on the server when I play games. |

Whilst this was true for Quake (1), advances in motion prediction and a shift from client-side to server-side movement tracking with game netcode has removed the impact of other player's ping on your ability to kill them. (Unless the high-ping player is also the server) Cail |

Ummm....no...it means you are dead and haven't fallen yet... when I first started with the FPS games...I was dumb enough to go on-line with a buddy who was hosting the game on his server...me and 4 or 5 other guys I work with....we were being killed by people who had not even spawned yet....well...that we could see. Once we got on a server that everyone had about the same ping times....different story... |

I have noticed that. I have fair fights with some people. When it comes to the host, I get one burst with my sub machine gun and than I'm dead. |

Maybe it's because I am still playing Red Faction online... lol When someone comes in with a high ping (200+), they warp all over and it's near impossible to kill them. |

Ah, indeed. Totally-destructible environment is cool, but they were smoking something good when they wrote the netcode for RF. Cail |
