TransmasterDon't Blame Me I Voted For Bill and Opus join:2001-06-20 Cheyenne, WY | Great The fact the big cable outfits hate this means it's good. Satellite TV is killing hard wired cable. When I went to DishNetwork (Echostar) it was so much fun calling the local cable outfit to cancel my account. The person I talked to on the phone acted like I had stabbed her in the heart. DishNetwork's new campaign featuring a Vietnamese Pot bellied hog is a scream. While the hard cable ad's are a flat lie. I remember several years ago EchoStar wanted to put up another satellite. There was no room to position it in orbit. Turns out TCI cable had purchased the rights to those orbital positions, and had been sitting on them for years. The FCC ruled they where sitting on them to keep someone else, like Echostar, from using them and forced TCI to give them up to Echostar. I think it's real ironic the Cable industry sited Satellite TV as viable competition when they were arguing for deregulation. Now that Satellite delivery is skinning them alive they are squealing like the pot bellied hog they are depicted as in the commercial. -- I love Irish Terriers, Low Brass, and the sound of a 1950 Johnson Viking 1 tranmitter on the air for the first time in 30 years. |

cheapest digital rate charter offers is for 55.00 a month. On top of that 1-99 isnt digital.

Uneek8 join:2001-08-12 Houston, TX | DTV is way cheaper then cable for sure. I pay 28$ a month for Total choice plus, thats about 150 channel's, they had even given me 3 months of showtime for free and 3 months of local channels for free. |

Knowing Comcast they'll read my post and give me a 50% increase. -- Don't get it, demand it! The Anime Network »www.theanimenetwork.com/index.html |

 | reply to Uneek8 I have been a happy DirecTV customer for almost 4 years now. I recommend them to anyone who asks. You're right, the prices are very reasonable, especially when you consider how much clearer the picture is when compared to "basic" cable. I just hope the new owner continues to offer the great DirecTV service I (we) have been spoiled by. |

LOL. Oh now was it really that bad? -- I am the beginning. I am the end. I am forever, and I will continue to exist long after everything, even hope itself, has been destroyed. |

i still cant see why people think digital is better. satellite TV right now is SHIT compared to a clean analog signal. they have the compression through the friggin roof.(i have DirecTV btw, unfortunately locked into a contract.)
edit: oh and the reason its so high? cuz they are making a killing off their endless supply of ppv chans. |

oliphant5Got Identity?Premium join:2003-05-24 Corona, CA | The key is "clean" analog signal. In so many markets you can't get a clean signal. But I concur, I get excellent analog service and it's superior to DTV...but how many other CATV customers can say that...you, me...that's 'bout it. For zillions analog cable is ghost filled garbage. -- Don't get it, demand it! The Anime Network »www.theanimenetwork.com/index.html |

if high speed internet is available the signal should be pretty clean, however older houses with old cabling could cause a problem. |

It was a good day when i called up charter and cancelled my cable tv. Now if DSL would become avail id dump the cable modem as well. Dont get me wrong i enjoyed my time with ATT/Comcast. But ived moved and am now in a charter area and they are just not on par with the other cable companies. Less channels, worse quality and more expensive then comcast.
I still have a hard time swallowing the fact that i have to be serviced by charter. Every other service i get i have options. But with the current setup of how cable co's are.....it only promotes one thing. Lack of service. -- My CPU: P4 2.6 800FSB, 1024MB PC3200 Crucial Mem, Abit IS7-E Motherboard, 120GIG HD, 30GIG HD, SONY 52X CDRW, SONY DRU510A DVD+/-, 480W Thermaltake SilentSilver Power Supply, 19inch CRT, and ATI Radeon 9600 128MB. |

oliphant5Got Identity?Premium join:2003-05-24 Corona, CA | And I would switch to DTV if it were cheaper and offered HD locals. I already get 4-6 NFL games a week for free...at least half of those are in HD...that's about all I can take a week. Paying over $150 extra for a few more games hardly seems a DTV deal maker. -- Don't get it, demand it! The Anime Network »www.theanimenetwork.com/index.html |
