 | Northpoint installed equipment that prevents DSL? Does Northpoint install equipment on the line that prevents other services such as line sharing , Telocity , and Bellsouth to be installed?
I just got off the phone with Earthlink and they told me I had a load coil on my line? Extremely odd because I'm only 9000ft and I've had DSL through Rhythms, Covad, and Northpoint. After Northpoint, everything went to hell and still hasn't reason from the dead. ALL the ISP CLECs, ILECs, and 3rd party say I cant get DSL? Is there a chance that Northpoint equipment is preventing me from getting new DSL.
In fact, I still have my Netopia bridge plugged in to the DSL circuit and it all syncs up. All green lights. No service, however.
P.S is there anyway to get the Northpoint circuit shutdown or removed? My Telco is Bellsouth.

 | Your (dead) Northpoint service isn't what they are saying has a load coil. It's your voice line they claim won't work. If you can find a provider who uses a dedicated circuit (like Northpoint did), you might be able to get the ILEC to do a "hot cut" from the Northpoint DSLAM to the other CLECs DSLAM. Otherwise you're stuck unless you can get them to remove the load coil. |

 | Actually, let me correct myself. Northpoint had nothing to do with the prevention of getting DSL, in fact , it was a DSL voice splitter I have on my home line.
Its a DSL voice device that is attached to the NID of the customers premise. It allows 1 telephone line to be split into 2 separate lines, using DSL signals. I had this on my home line and that caused me not to be able to get line sharing or any telco DSL service. I have removed the DSL voice copper pairs that were attached to my house line and completely disconnected it from all my pairs. I can connect at full 56k now and should be able to get line sharing without a problem.
The NID box with the DSL voice splitter :

 | reply to nandosftp GOOD luck on the "hot cut" part. |

 | reply to nandosftp Yea, I'm f**king tired of this bellsouth shit, that is eventually going to turn into a monopoly. I took off the (RT) and got a new telephone line installed. I'm going to wait another 2 - 4 weeks until bs pre-qualifies me and get the dsl installed.

A qwestion for you...(pun intended) I have been told I have a UDC "in my neighborhood". From your post, it appears that it is actually in the telco box on the side of my house? If so, what are my options for removing it and getting two REAL phone lines installed? This UDC has been keeping me from getting Qwest DSL ever since the Northpoint shutdown. Qwest won't take over my former Northpoint "dry line" and will only run ADSL over a live phone line.
Any advice you can provide will be appreciated.

GarageJoeU2 Rocks join:2001-03-21 Scottsdale, AZ | Dave, many people have the same problem you have. Getting a dry line(one that is free from electronics and problems) However, when they told you have a UDC in the neighborhood, it is possible to have several things. Could be that there are electronics, ie loads, repeaters, etc. or could be a RT hut in the neighborhood, also known as a slic hut, or possibly a partially fiber line, although for qwest territory this is a rare occurance. Anyway despite this information it doesnt matter, the possiblity of getting a dry line is possible but totally contingent on who you talk to in the business offer when you place the order. I hope this information helps. -- Matthew Current @Home Tech, Ex-Northpoint, Qwest, Covad OSP Network Technician |
