For Example....there are some AOL, Yahoo....etc type entries and if you run across a site that was fine yesterday, just remember about IE-Spyad ;)<br><br>Bubba<br><br>Edit: After re-reading the part about you using IE 5.5 let me be one of those that says you might want to consider upgrading to IE 6 SP1. Yeah....there are those that will offer a different opinion and that's kewl. Since it adds a long list of spyware and ad sites to your restricted zone, the only thing you should confirm when installing it is that the security slider for the Restricted Zone in IE is all the way up on HIGH!<br><br>To install IE-SpyAd, download the kit from the page linked above and open it.  Inside is a file name "ie-ads.reg" just double-click on that to let it "merge" all those settings into your registry automatically.  That's really it until you want to upgrade it or uninstall it.<br><br>Edit: Do be aware that IE-SpyAd provides more than cookie protection.  It puts over 6000 known bad sites into IE's Restricted Zone which, with the slider for that zone at High, gives maximum security in IE for those sites.  (At High, IE prevents the running of any ActiveX, scripting, Java and other possibly exploitable browser functions. Some of the most dangerous spyware items especially for IE users are related to ActiveX controls.  SpywareBlaster's most important protections are against a long list of ActiveX spyware items.  These blocks should reduce the amount of spyware you get on your system, but since there are other types of spyware, you may still catch some when scanning with Spybot or Ad-aware.<br><br>The second protection in SpywareBlaster are blocks for a specific list of spyware related cookies, but these only work for IE6.<br><br>Perhaps if you told us what your scans find and clean, we can advise you what other protection or system settings would prevent them.<br><br>Difference between SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard:<br> <BLOCKQUOTE><SMALL>said by lowwatermark:</SMALL><HR>SpywareGuard is a resident scanner (similar in a way to how an anti-virus program works) which proactively scans files prior to them being executed; looking for spyware installation kits and such. It sets flags in the registry to prevent the running of a specific list of bad spyware related ActiveX controls.  This includes general spyware and malicious dialers.  It also blocks a list of known spyware related cookies in IE6.  SpywareBlaster should be run periodically, say once a week, to check for updates to its database.
