Re: Haha I work for a government subcontract. I have nice benfits and they pay me well considering the area I live in (New Orleans is not well known for their "technology"). 
However, like badmagicnumber said once your project is up, if they don't find you a new one, you're gone. Or worse yet, the government decides to renew the contract with another company. 9 times out of 10 you'll be assimilated into that new company, but what if you liked the old one better?
