Re: Test your mobile speed

Tried with AT&T 6590 wap browser. Could open the speed test and when I click on 50k, I get a page telling me the test is in progress and it will redirect followed by a bunch of gibberish characters and then nothing happens. It looks like there is a <!-- preceding the junk characters. Maybe my phone can't handle javascript?

I'm still playing around with the wap side of things. Some phones refuse to download large pages. Others will not redirect. Its all good fun. Wap does not allow javascript, it has its own much simpler features.

the html one should work, if you can view/use html.

on the wap page?
yeah it seems that basic wap browsers of the type found on monochrome phones have a very small maximum size for any WAP stack, making a speed test pretty much pointless.

On my Sony Ericsson T616, it only worked on the WAP page, best result was 3 kbit/sec 1.426 latency, 5.41s d/l time.

I have an LG VX4400 on Verizon, Openwave browser version 4.1.26l. I'm using the TE4VZV10 firmware, which uses Verizon's 1xRTT (144K) network for WAP and BREW.

The HTML test pages don't work -- I get "500: Web service problem." The details are "1504: Could not read or write data on connection". In WAP mode, it sorta works. I only see the 5k option, and get the "When data indication stops [click me] option". However, the download is too small to click it fast enough.

The "About" option on the WAP page gets "1019: Compile error". If I look at it in Opera, there appears to be a missing </p> tag after the </card> tag.

Using it connected to a laptop, I was able to get 109kbit.

Thanks for the site, much appreciated...

Question though, we are wanting to tweak our Mobile server IP parameters to ensure they are mobile friendly. What are the TCP/IP settings you are using for these tests? i.e. RWIN MSS etc. etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Dan
