Checkpoint has no software products for the desktop. They mostly make hardware. It's a natural fit without an overlap. Therefore the chances of Zonealarm being shelved are slim. Rather it allows both to reach markets they couldn't before.
Uh, CheckPoint is a software company, not a hardware company, as far as I know. Third party hardware vendors, NOT CheckPoint itself, sell boxes "secured by CheckPoint" software. But your point, that CheckPoint has no desktop presence, is accurate.
