 | ZoneAlarm peaked at 2.6.362. After that, they started to put their own back doors into the thing, and try to extend its reach into the rest of the machine. The first version I downloaded after 2.6.362 almost qualified as malware itself.
Get 2.6.362, turn off the email stuff, set the preferences to never check for upgrades, ask before sending information, &etc.
No matter what others are saying, it's necessary. I have a Linux based hardware firewall, as well, and you need both.
And forget most of those other guys. --TR |
BPremium,MVM join:2000-10-28 | Actually, the "email stuff" is the only reason (okay, also less bloat) that I hunt down and install 2.6.362. I believe it's the last version of ZoneAlarm Free wherein MailSafe actually worked (did more than stop VBS files).
The only important thing I think you give up using 2.6.362 is the ability to monitor local proxy connections. But I may be wrong.
