Re: Those telcos... The fact is that Rogers didn't know what they were doing. They were a relatively new ISP, as @Home did everything for the company. But as Rogers had to step up and learn to be an ISP, they fell short. The had debts, and were loosing money. Taking the 3mbps connections and putting them down to a 1.5 mbps connection allowed Rogers to gain customers, as the network was less bogged down. Now that Rogers has finally got things sorted out, they are becoming a great ISP. Connections are good, and Speeds are dancing. Albeit there are some people who are still hurting on the speeds side, but it IS getting BETTER.
Rogers is now a great alternative to DSL. They finally have a good structure going, and we should be doing alright from now on.
And yes the Customer Service people will be pricks if you are a prick to them. Its a common misconseption that because your the customer, you can do anything to them. That they are just there to serve you. There not. So be nice they'll be nice, and you will probably find yourself getting a better deal.
Rogers is a excellent ISP, and my connection with them has been rocksolid with no downtime.
Keep up the good work Rogers... If you don't, Bell might be able to catch up .
By The way. Why would I want a 800k connection that I can't get unless im within 100 ' of the CO?
