My directvdsl stinks!

OMG, My directvdsl has been down now for over a year! Normally, I'm a very patient guy, but this is just unacceptable. I'm not going to wait much longer. If it's down for another year, by gosh, I'm going to call them!

Why don't you quit complaining? It's probably on your end. Why don't you post a speed test or ask for some tweak help? There are a lot of people here willing to help unless you've decided to be a whiner. They're an excellent company and they try very hard to please the consumer under very difficult conditions, insane govt. regulations, etc. If I started getting disconnected all the time, or my speeds got to dialup level, I'd still send in my $49.95/mo. because I know they try very hard to put out a stable product.

(Either that or I've been lurking the Bellsouth forum for too long)

But Geez, I'd be happy to send them my $49.95 a month, but they don't accept it! Maybe I'll try to give them more money. But yessiree bob, if it doesn't come back up in the next few years, I swear by gosh, I'm going to call them and boy then they'll be sorry.

jydub,

You must be sending your payment to the wrong address. Just send it to my paypal account and I will see that it gets to the right person. Once you start sending the payments it may take a few months to a year to get it hooked back up so dont worry, just keep sending me the payments.

Ok, I'll try but it takes a long time, be patient. I have to send smoke signals to the neighboring hills, where mountain indians chisel my message onto dried tree bark. Then it's carried up to the observatory by pony where the local scientists re-enter my message and post it to the internet. Getting a response takes even longer!

I miss my dtvdsl.

I see you're at Covad, aren't you happy now?

Myself I've moved from DTV to Covad... that is, moved my employment. Let me know if you need a hand!

Ok, now you're going to make me be serious. I love my Covad. I never have to think about it, it's just always there. It's faster and more stable than my old dtv connection.

Now, if was just under 50 bucks, it'd be perfect.

As always... Key Word YOURS

My first, Telocity then DTV was always rock solid consistent and fast. Likely more a Verizon or whoever NH is now issue. (remember with Covad the only Verizon part of connection is literally the line to your house... others you also go through a lot of Verizon data network to get to your ISP POP)

I really don't care for BS as an ISP (BSFA) but their infrastructure most areas is rock solid.

Hi Hayward, I remember you from the Telocity/DTV days.

Telocity/DTV was Verizon from my house, through the CO and down to the DTV POP in Cambridge.

Covad is on a Verizon leased line, but they have their own DSLAM here in the CO.

Verizon's not bad, but whenever there is the occasional problem it's usually their fault. I've specifically avoided using them as a full solution, but only because I don't have to.

I wouldn't say "rock solid" ... didn't someone already prove that the Telocity/DTV "brick" floated?!?!

Last time I checked, rocks sank to the bottom!

Sorry, couldn't resist the pun!

Well now that would depend if you had the original BRICK or the far more bloated (Probably most know) shark fin ... and was the subject of those pictures.

And yet you TOO are EVEN BOTHERING to look back here AND RESPOND... so what's that about? (Maybe it wasn't all that bad or you re just a masochist?)

PS Don't ask me why this forum is still here instead of in the graveyard, except it actually was for many (where the ILEC didn't screw it up) an exceptional service... that unfortunately bit off FAR more than it could chew...

Kind of reminds me of Commodore which so horribly fumbled the AMIGA which IF MARKETED WELL OR EVEN PROPERLY... we all wouldn't even be arguing over Mac and PC given at the time... really exceeded BOTH. (OS maybe not the Mac itself)... but the Mac was then ALL B&W and like "so what"... real time animation was still something down the road... AMIGA was doing it Full color and 30 fps true video in 1985... on WHOPPING 1MB of RAM... but ground up designed to do JUST that sort of thing. (And still took 10 more years of COMPLETE NEGLECT.. and even bankruptcy before the C=64 really went away.

They had exceptional products they had no idea of what they were capable of... let alone market them to advantage... in the mean time Bil Gates made GARBAGE smell nice!!!!
