Surewest is in some parts of the city of Sacramento (mostly in the Natomas area) and some parts of Sacramento county... they're expanding to another city in the county (Elk Grove) by the end of the year. And yeah, 10MB/s up and down for about $50.00 a month; it gets cheaper if you buy their phone and TV service.

Dual WAN Port Router? And why does one need more than 1 modem on their line? If you don't mind, post a speed test from the OOL FTP Test here -- »ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/pub/test64

Note your speed at 50%

just to speed things up a bit...back to two now ...my area was starting to slow a little....as far as the connection ..i use 2 modems and midpoint, it splits the file down both pipelines and thats how you get the speed. if i use the ool test that you mentioned it will only show half my speed.

Verizon in Nortern Bergen county NJ are running the lines for fttp.Judging on how many dormant line i see on the poles, they have been at for a good while.I cant wait till they get to the splice work.As of now ,just coiled dead ends at all the junction points.Reminds me of when ool did their install.

Funny you should mention..

I guess this totally different--

I lurk the hardware forums and many people have the "fast is never fast enough" attitude. I play games at full res just fine with my system.

I'm used to 1.5mbit ADSL, and Optimum Online is probably as close to fiber speeds as I'll come in the forseable future.

So you've got one happy cable camper here, not that I don't wish for symetric upload! :)

Just from my desk at work.. though I do have 1.5/1.5 fiber at home (Brambleton in Loudoun County, Virginia - first full community with FTTH for voice, data, tv) - I get basically 1.3/1.5 realistically. I believe they're going to offer 3/3 soon, which would be nice.

You No. Virgian's get to have all the fun up there. Us down here in Richmond always get left out because Verizon is always catering to the Govt. and Politicians up there.

Maybe one day Verizon will get us some fiber down here. It is really annoying that they will not do anything for us.
