Bad luck? Ha, you betcha!

Let me tell you my story first...
I have been waiting for DSL for nearly 4 years now, since I fully understand my cable company is hopeless. So my CO eventually got DSL oh let's say toward the end of September. How did I find this out? Well I checked a friend's number that lives closer to the CO, when I saw they could get it my mouth dropped! Then I said well I better check my number so I can order, UH OH not available! So thanks to a very helpful tech on here I got an order through at I believe 22,000 feet. Which is crazy! But the equipment came and everything and I got it all hooked up and ready to go....My activation date comes...no DSL signal...the next day...No DSL signal....finally, I get the call about mid week saying, Im sorry we have to have you send the equipment back, ASI denied you cause of excessive loop length and you have two load coils and a bridge tap on your line....I about cried!

So what if I were to get the load coils removed and wired off the bridge tap? I'm sure that would take me down feet wise quite a bit. I would probably still be out of service range, but not by much, because the people that live about 100 feet down the road can get it and they are wired from the same central office. And there is one main feature that we all know about that would be very nice, no second line needed, I wish I didn't have to pay for it but I do cause I don't have DSL. If there was some contract I could sign with SBC saying "I fully understand that my DSL service would not be as advertised due to distance" I would sign it, slow DSL is better than no DSL I'm serious, I wonder if they would do that, and Im sure the load coils and bridge tap can be taken off my line.

When you have been using AOL for far too long, much like me, you'll be feeling what I am!

ASI is charged around $900 to have a line conditioned (loads and bridge tap removed) and there is no guarantee at that distance that you would work at even the 192 speed. In otherwords they could be out the expense for nothing.

That 192 is at 22,000 where I am at now(192 sounds like glory to me right now, from using this dial-up!), I was told the similar thing by a tech one time, however, once the bridge tap and loid coils come off then it should be better, however, I was told I will still be 98 feet out of service range once those do come off, but still. Say someone else has the same siution as me with their line but they are closer in, it would cost just as much to fix theres as mine, so reguardless they will pay the same amount as me for DSL regaurdless of speed, so it wouldn't be a waste of money for them to fix.

Do both of your lines have load coils and bridged taps? Maybe you would have better luck ordering DSL for the other line.

At that range both pairs would have two load coils. SATASI

Let's say you paid $29.99/month for your DSL. In 10 months you have given the roughly $300. So it would take 30 months of service from you to pay to condition your line. And if they did they aren't even sure if you could get the service still. They would probably need something showing a small handful of customers would order DSL if these were removed.
