What is a circuit ID ??

Hi,

Need to know how are the DSL circuit IDs created and what does each part of the ID mean.

eg. 23.OBGJ.000061

Thanks for your help

This all depends on your point of view...

The Telco has a circuit ID for each DSL circuit - whether it's unbundled loop, or lineshare.

ASI also has a circuit ID for each DSL circuit.

Depending on the circuit ID and the type the formats change. For ASI DSL Circuit ID's, they could look like this:

22.acgs.555.555.1212

The "22" is a prefix based either on state or LATA (I forget which)
The "acgs" designates the circuit type
The "555.555.1212" is the DSL TN

I believe the circuit you actually referenced above is an ATM Circuit ID.

Yep, that would be an OC3 circuit ID.

For ASI's circuit Frame/ATM circuit IDs: The 2-digit prefix is determined by state on ASI's side. The 4-letter prefix (OBGJ, HCGM, etc) is determined by the type of circuit. For Frame Relay and ATM circuits, I don't think there's a method to the number portion.
