Remember guys, its just a bunch of gained up 9.6kbps channels, so the latency is going to be still pretty high. I dont see mobile gaming or VoIP in the near future.
And no one claimed or promised that 1xRTT would work at exactly 144kbps. The estimates were 40-60kbps by carriers. An independent test recently showed that Verizon averaged no lower than 50kbps, while Sprint averaged about 80-100kbps.
And unlike EDGE or GPRS, you get your bandwidth from a much larger piece of the pie. |
