Re: I am up for now BobX, glad you are back up. Weird, that you were out for 24 hours and I was not. We are both out of the same CO and you are closer. -- »www.mpia-hd.mpg.de/homes/bell/pr···ster.jpg GEMS_Galaxy collage |

Re: SF bay area problems? Well, I'm still down as of this am -- 6:40 94611 - This is really frustrating. It's been 35 hours for me. |

| skylineD, have you tried calling ELN Tech support about this??? I think I would seeing that the majority of us have our DSL back. Maybe there is something else going on with your connection.

 | Just talked with one of the agents, he confirmed I'm still down. Stated the problem was with the server, engineers are working day and night to fix it. No time estimate. I'm VERY frustrated.
Maybe I'll look into Xtreme DSL, I know I quailfy for that.
I appreciate the concern, and the welcome

I must have been one of the customers to come back on line. Thanks for this forum, otherwise I'd never know what's going on. |

| Glad to hear you are back. Enjoy. These down times make you really appreciate DSL when you have to revert back to dial-up...

durrem join:2000-12-06 San Jose, CA | reply to dangme said by dangme: The Earthlink customer support person said an "OC1" cable was cut and SBC and Covad are scrambling to fix it. She said people who connect through SBC are up sporadically, and that that network was essentially running on half capacity, so customers' connections are being periodically disrupted to allow other people to connect.
Well, I'm back up again, just like yesterday morning. Looks like Earthlink has decided to let me be up while I'm at work. How nice of them. Sarcasm aside, it looks like there is less traffic hammering the server in the morning. I'll find out if it is fixed when I get home from work and see if it is still working.
I remember when I signed up for Earthlink that they had a similar problem with a server (Oakland redsomething server). It took them two months to get it fixed and spawned a huge thread here. People were calling up Earthlink and getting like 3 months of refunds due to the downtime. |

 | reply to durrem Former LA Earthlink DSL customer:
these guys are the worst. for almost a year these guys were blaming my bad service on PacBell and Covad. I must have spent several hours a week waiting to speak to a "tier 2" technician. These guys were pulling my chain, blaming my loss of sync on everyone but themselves.
Turns out it was their network the entire time. I know this because I started reading on posts like this that it was Earthlink's oversold network and the company was engaged in a giant coverup. When I finally confronted the tier two techs with this new info, at first they denied the validity of this but later admitted that it was Earthlink's network that was the source of my problems and not PacBell and Covad as they were claiming all along.
And as soon as I switched to DSLExtreme as my ISP with everything else exactly the same I never experienced any more problems EVER! (This was about 2 years ago!)
Bottom line: Earthlink has ZERO integrity and can't be trusted. |

 | reply to durrem evanfrank:
If you didn't have sync, that is an indicator that you do not have a strong DSL signal (connection) to the DSLAM at your CO. This CO is owned and operated by PacBell and the DSLAM is owned and operated by Covad. No sync is caused by line conditions i.e. connection issues to the DSLAM and distance limitations. Earthlink is responsible for making sure PacBell and Covad do their part to make sure you have sync as long as it's Technically Feasible. So, to clarify, "no sync" is never a problem with an Earthlink network. |

 | Wut he/she said. Too many people seem to want to associate dsl with dial-up and it just isn't the same. |
