It prevents spyware from getting onto your computer in the first place. I do however us Adaware and Spybot Search and Destroy »www.safer-networking.org/index.p···download (also freeware). These three combined leave my pc spyware/ad free.
I've heard a lot of nice things about spywareblaster, should give it a try sometime.. I use adaware, spybot and winpatrol together with my AV and firewall. No problems here
