Anyone see this part.......

From Sonic.net promo page:

"This special offer is only valid between February, 2nd 2004 and February, 14th 2004. Orders may be placed now but will be held until February 2nd to ensure the special pricing is available from SBC. "

This tells me that if SBC does not drop pricing these orders will be cancelled.
Any bets?

Re: Anyone see this part.......

Why is it that on both DSLExtreme's offer and SONIC.NET's offer they both are doing pre-orders UNTIL February? Is there something im missing here. Just kind of coincidental that both are taking preorders and will start rolling it out in February.

Because that's when they can order the deeply discounted circuit from SBC.

Plenty of servers do well over 1500kbps. And the upload speed is 608k.

Pardon me, but could you please re-post this in English so that I might attempt to understand what you trying to convey?

This should tell you that SBC will come out with a new promo price plan come 2/2/04 as well.

I was saying $56.95 for web only new sign ups, but with Sonic's new price, I'm having to lower that guess. I'd say $44.95 for web only sign ups now. Just my guess.

I'd bet your right - but that it will be for PPPoE dynamic only - static will likely be about $100. Sonic.net is providing eight static IPs with our package. Add to this clueful support, an uncongested network, VPN for security when you're on the road, good Usenet news (Supernews included, plus two other servers), Linux shell access, optional hotspot hosting (get paid!), etc..

I'm real happy to be launching an agressivly priced very high speed product which is feature rich - while SBC may follow with something similarly priced, it won't come with the features and quality of technical support and customer care.

Yeah, I upgraded tonight Dane. I'm totally stoked! My sonic dsl has been a rock solid 1.5/128 (now 1.5/256) for 3 years. I am hoping the upgrade puts me towards the top of the new cap. I might even put the omni on a appo for the hotspot hosting!

Yes, definitely do host a hotspot - we can limit it's users to a fraction of your bandwidth if you'd like, and it'll earn you cash toward your DSL connection.

Yes, we certainly want our customers to host hotspots. We'll even pay them when they get used! The ideal would be a customer with an enhanced link for $44.95 per month, and on either side of him, two customers paying $18.95 for basic Internet access. Using this, they can authenticate into the host's hotspot, with full VPN grade security (so no one can see what anyone else is doing) and get their own IP address (so that they host isn't responsible or a target for attack). We then give 50% of the revenue from the two neighbors to the host, or about $19, reducing his DSL costs to just above $25 per month. For 6.0Mbps.

Of course, a little Linksys is just $60 or so, and lots of folks are deploying them anyway, so it just makes sense.

For details, see our hotspot hosting page: »www.sonic.net/hotspots/hosting/

No, that's not the case - we just can't get the good new loop pricing until February 2nd.

It's likely that we'll extend this beyond February 15th, BTW, but I'm not sure for how long yet.
