Raspppoe disconnects

My Raspppoe have run for years, but have always had these
annoying disconnects:

Background:
Stand alone (single pc), no networks.
Win ME with latest upgrades
Norwegian telenor 384 ADSL isp
Raspppoe ver 0.98
Congiured to "always on".
Followed this instruction when installed:
"...In this window, locate and select the TCP/IP->Adapter Name entry for the network adapter connected to your broadband modem. If this network adapter is dedicated to your broadband modem, simply click the Remove button"
So I use no fixed ip-adress or mask.

Symptom:
At un-even intervals, it will disconnect. Sometimes 3-4
time an hour, sometimes ok for several hours. Never for a whole day.
A fresh connect, works ok at once, most of the time.
Sometimes though, it will NOT connect again, and I have to
boot. Sometimes softboot works, more seldom I have to
hardboot.
When the disconnect occurs, the ADSL model still have the ok lights.
Have talked A LOT to the isp-provider, they have changed the
modem. changed the entrypoint in their central, nothing seems to help.

Do I need a fix for the RASPPPOE ??

Regards
erik from Norway

Do you leave your modem on at all times or turn it off when you go to sleep or go away? It happened to me when i turned off my modem before I went to sleep and turned it back on and it stopped when I kept it on at all times.
