I never had any problems...TiVo, alarms...all fine

Like a previous poster, I disconnected POTS at the NID and just plugged the ATA into the nearest jack. I had no problems faxing, my alarm system didn't have any problems connecting to the monitoring station and it also used cell backup, and my now dead series 1 TiVo used a TurboNET NIC I picked up from 9thtee...the drivers were included in TiVo 3.x software. But even before I got the NIC, I didn't have trouble with TiVo dialing via VoIP. And you can slow the baud rate of the DirecTiVo modems by using ,#034 or ,#019 prefixes. I ran a pretty hefty UPS (1400W) anyway and even with power outtages I didn't go down. It wasn't until Verizon got their crap together here and Comcast's last wave of price increases before I dropped Vonage (along with Comcast)...but it certainly wasn't because of incompatibility...Vonage wasn't the problem...over priced cable provider was my problem.
