Re: Apples to Apples?

As long as your cable is running to the home and delivering internet, Cable providers can't stop the cable tv signal (very basic) that comes along with it. (only available in areas where you have the old Tocom type service (or they haven't discontinues it yet), not the new X-Box sized cable boxes, that digital cable junk.

I personally think that these prices are a bit skewed as pointed out by those who "have cable tv service" in addition to Internet, and the acknowledged price difference between them.

I pay $29.99 a month for ADSL (1.5 down/256 up), but If I didn't have SBC as my phone service provider, I wouldn't be able to get it at all, or the price would be jacked so high it makes it not worth it to even get, some where around $70/mo for half the speed!

My friend is paying $40.84/mo for BASIC Comcast Cable, No TV, For that he has the much better and cost effective DirecTV @ 27.99/mo (comes with SciFi & TechTV, Comcast Doesn't). He was informed that if he wanted Digital Cable that he could sign up for the "basic digital plan" for an additional $38.99/mo + taxes on top of his $40.84, what a JIP. ~$86 (after taxes) Are you crazy, Between My Phone Bill with DSL & My Satt Bill I only Total up to about ~$73.

So with that said, Nevermind.

They can and they do block the signal.

If a comcast tech comes by and sees you have cable tv going and you are just a cable modem sub, they are required to filter you.

"By the way my cable man, I know you are gouging my eyes out in my internet costs, right now, but why don't you go ahead and inspect all my other TV's & VCR's while your here to see if I'm getting cable TV. I have this One TV in the basement it's hooked up to the old Cable wire, and for some funny reason it works like an antenna, pulling all these cool stations".

Somehow I doubt the above situation happens...
