[BritSys] 3.0/768 Connection

Will BritSys.Net be offering something similar? I hear that Pacbell will offering this package in February. Anyone have any info?

If you are within required sync distance you will be able to upgrade to the new speed (once its available). This will not be a "free" upgrade and will cost more monthly as far as i know.

Do you know what the new speed packages will be and their cap distances. I am not sure why it should cost more as their service is already priced at cable levels with half the speed. They just don't get it.

Once again, the 1.5-3/384 is actually 1.5-6/608!!

Here is what a SBC rep is saying very interesrting...

For $45.00 a month that is awesome. Britsys.net is a great isp and has been rock solid but im willing to lose some download speed and save a few bucks. But I do not want to be paying more for less. I think I'll hold out for a couple of weeks to see how MCI & Britsys.net respond.

Any new info on this issue? Will MCI offer any faster DSL packages?

I'm also waiting to see what MCI has to offer in response to the Bells. I was with Pacbell but switched away and have been happy. Pacbell seems to have upped the ante a bit now.

I spoke with MCI about a week ago, they are under "HUGE" pressue to offer faster speeds this year.

The rumor is that new speeds will be available in the summer but i dont know what they will be, at least 3.0/768k but possibly upto 8.0/1.0 which is what their equipment can handle.

Woa, that would really be sweet. Would you have any ballpark figures of prices? Same as competitors? More? Less?

Yes....and how close would one have to be to their CO to qualify for the speed increase to 3.0 or 8.0? I would think very close...like under 5,000 feet.

I hope they 3mbps as an upgrade and not raise the price.

Hopefully they'll offer higher speeds. I took a look at Speakeasy's website and they're offering a 6.0/768 package from Covad for $109 month.

MCI needs to do something, or it won't hold my interest.

I just read from the Cyberonic forum that they have a 6mbps down stream , 768 upstream plan. Cyberonic is a reseller of MCI, so I am assuming that the plan is with MCI. My contract is up, and I am ready to sign a new one! So any one know a good deal/promotion? I would love to get the 8mbps down, 1 mbps up plan! It will rock! I am only 4200 feet away from the CO.

The 6/768 package is not on the MCI backbone. It's covad.
