Re: [BritSys] 3.0/768 Connection

I spoke with MCI about a week ago, they are under "HUGE" pressue to offer faster speeds this year.

The rumor is that new speeds will be available in the summer but i dont know what they will be, at least 3.0/768k but possibly upto 8.0/1.0 which is what their equipment can handle.

Is there any new information regarding an upgrade, using MCI's backbone? 8 Mb - 1 Mb sounds very appealing. What other offerings (promotions) are current?

I was trying to find clues as to what speeds MCI may offer.

Well, »www.isp-select.com/MCI/Enterprise_DSL.htm

shows speeds as follows for Enterprise ADSL:

Asymmetrical:
1 Mbps upstream
by 3 Mbps, 5 Mbps,
or 7 Mbps downstream.

so I suppose all that MCI has to do is make a marketing decision to make them available on the retail side also, and also add capacity so that they can handle the higher load.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get any further hints on this?

I don't know but when Verizon annouces the availability of their 3/768 package for $30 and $35 on a dry pair we are going to see some massive shifts in the market. This is what the current consensus is on their new pricing as they will be launching VOIP service very shortly as well.
