How many of you have actually been exploited?

I've been using IE since before Windows95 and have yet to have had problems with any of these exploits during all of my web adventures.

I suppose that because I am technology inclined I know better than to do stupid things so maybe it's just a matter of education. And like said above people find things and they eventually get fixed. When Firebird gets an exploit it's probably fixed and pushed under the rug. When IE has an issue everybody jumps Microsoft's shit, as usual.

Same. I've always used IE despite the inferences I'm inept/clueless/stubborn. Never have been exploited. Never have been hacked.

Then again I've been on-line since Wildcat! BBS days and I've never run an anti-virus program. I've been infected once in all that time.

Common sense makes up for a lot.....

So, does the fact that a driver has never been in an accident during his or her time driving mean that he or she doesn't need insurance? It's the same thing. Common sense or not, you'll get bitten in the butt sooner or later.

Re: How many of you have actually been exploited?

Funny you should mention that, I haven't ever been in a traffic accident either, and I've driven all over the country from Queens to New Mexico to the red hills of Georgia. Don't jinx me.

Yeah, I know the chance is there. I think it's more an issue for someone who'd be stupid enough to hand over credit-card info because an e-mail from Paypal says to.

For me IE works. I spend 10+ hours a day on-line hunting for news. I rarely have any real problems.

Only thing I REALLY fault them for is for waiting until the next Ice-age to employ pop-up blockers. And that's fixed by the Google bar (and the upcoming SP2 I think as well).

Re: How many of you have actually been exploited?

Ohh. Your example is perfect.

It doesn't matter what car you drive either! You could have some busted ass trash can or a brand new Vette. You still have a chance of getting into an accident. While you may have better chances of survival in an SUV over a nice sports car, you still want to drive what you like too.

Yep...it doesn't matter how good of a driver you are when your number comes up. I've been hit while sitting (2nd in line) at a stoplight by a kidnapper running from the police! He'd spun at the intersection and his only way off the sidewalk was to ram into me so count yourself lucky if you haven't wrecked and buckle up!

There is also a 50/50 chance you will die before the sun is up tomorrow too. I've had two viruses in ten years. They came on two dirty floppy discs with my first computer.

There is good and evil on the Internet. If you experiment on the dark side you are a lot more likely to get bit than if you play in the DSL forum or research family history. Even Warez is unsafe now -- and I knew Albert years ago when it was not.

Re: How many of you have actually been exploited?

Actually, in a sense, Warez is safer now.....Torrent is a bit distribution mode, and modified files or files containing a virus don't last long.....though p2p is a cesspool, so I guess it balances out....
