Re: [wireless] WRT54G and WPA problems!

I have posted messages in the MS wireless networking newsgroup on this issue. I found a work-around by making the Key Renewal period very short (the lost connection after boot-up would renew itself after the next key renewal period).

I can now do better than that workaround. Someone (thanks Alex) sent me a registry fix which seems to resolve the issue (he calls it a workaround, I think it's a fix):

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\EAPOL\Parameters\General\Global]
"AuthMode"=dword:00000002

By the way, if anyone is interested, if you apply '0' to the Routers Group renewal Key, this is saying that every 24 hours, the encryption will change.

That's good to know - I was enetering "86400" at one point. Where did you find this info? I've searched everywhere for more specifics on "Group Key Renewal Interval", and I couldn't find any more info that says exactly what it does and why. I specifically want to know if I'm going to get a temporary disconnection when this renewal occurs.

Hello Wireless Guru,
Well, I was having a discussion with a senior tech person at Linksys, regarding the GRK etc. I asked, that if I used '0', is the encryption changing continously, since using '1' is every second. H said no, '0'is changing the encryption every 24 hrs. Right now, my GRK on my WRT54G is set to 600 sec. Using WPA, my setup is working very well, no connection drops, and when rebooting, I can get right back to the Net.

Disable WPA then uncheck 802.1x then re-enable WPA.

How would I go about doing this?

Thanks for the help guys.
