Re: Broadvox Direct Pre-Launch Announced ! I don't think it's a matter of that, I think it's a matter of actually testing it with how BVD "locks" the device. I would be willing to test this with my own completely unlocked Sipura.

 | reply to neftv Well, I emailed Sipura tech support:
My Question to Sipura:
"With locked Admin access to Sipura SPA-2000, and just User-level access to port 2, is it possible to configure port 2 independently from port 1? In other words, if a provider locks Admin access to the device and User access to port 1, but allows User access to port 2, can I configure FWD on port 2 while the provider maintains complete control over Admin access to the device?"
Sipura's answer:
"Correct. The end-user still has web access to the User 2 parameters, and can modify their values. In fact, the SPA-2000 provisioning solution allows the service provider to decide which parameters are accessible by the end-user on a parameter by parameter basis."
So, Jeff, how about giving this another thought?
Thanks! |

PhoneBoyI Am join:2002-01-02 Gig Harbor, WA | In order to make FWD work correctly in my setup, I needed to change settings *OUTSIDE* the User 2/Line 2 settings. If the SIP page is in any way restricted, I can't make FWD work.

sesatPremium join:2003-12-16 Oakland, CA | phoneboy, what are those changes needed outside User2 and Line 2 pages?
If they do not conflict with BVD's service, and they are constant for all users (ie your fwd userid doesn't go in there anywhere), then they can easily have it preconfigured as such in the firmware provided to lock down user-owned devices.
(note i am NOT asking for this to be done on a BVD-owned device) |

PhoneBoyI Am join:2002-01-02 Gig Harbor, WA | I tweak a couple of the NAT-related SIP settings so that I could use my Sipura behind NAT *without* having to use fwdnat.pulver.com.

 | You don't have to use fwdnat.pulver.com at all. Which settings are you tweaking on the SIP page? |

 | From what I can see on your web page, the only setting you are tweaking on the SIP page is the NAT keepalive Interval setting. This interval will be set by Broadvox. However, if it works through your NAT and firewall with Broadvox, it will work the same way with FWD. The keepalive interval will keep the NAT translation rule and the firewall hole open for FWD to be able to communicate with the Sipura. I'm not sure which router you are using and if the NAT and firewall timeouts are configurable in your router. If they are, you can increase the keepalive interval and have less traffic leaving and coming into your Sipura (provided you had access to the SIP page). If they are not, the keepalive configured in Sipura has to be less than the timeout that your router is using. But in any case, if it's working with Broadvox, it's going to work with FWD except the keepalives will be sent to different servers (UDP port on Line 1 will be communicating with the Broadvox SIP proxy; UDP port on Line 2 will be communicating with the FWD SIP proxy.)
Am I wrong here? |

kwest join:2003-05-15 Dallas, GA | Just a question, I keep seeing post about Broadvox HAS LAUNCHED, if this is the case, why does the outgoing caller ID still not show your name and number is stills shows Brivia Comm 216-373-1015 and why does incoming caller ID still not show name? In other post from months ago it was stated this would be fixed just PRIOR to launch.
Just wondering |

This is possible. With my VoicePulse device I am locked out of Line1 and User1 but I can get into Line2 and User2 settings pages. I cannot get into the admin pages at all. I can also go to the advanced pages but again only for Line2 and User2.
This has allowed me to setup FWD and a few different SIP services on Line2 without ever being able to break my VoicePulse setup. I also have not had to request support from VoicePulse with regard to doing this. I am guessing this setup must be documented by Sipura. |

But I'm still not seeing it working "properly" on my end. I'll give it till next week. Then maybe start a ticket. My current ticket is sitting as escalated for about 2 days now. Hopefully they'll be able to get my friends and family number for 914 provisioned soon. Had a call from that area last night that should have only been a local charge for them. But since the friends and family hadn't been provisioned yet - they had to pay regular long distance toll.
Service has been stable and quality of calls has been good for me. So lets hope the few other things get resolved soon. -- Test Your Security Team Z Member Cable Modem Diagnostics InsightBB waiting for new tiers |
