Re: Broadvox Direct Pre-Launch Announced !

said by jgwilliams:
I don't have a date for you, whenever we change the routing to the production environment. It will be very soon, that much I know; perhaps a week or two. You will not transmit name until we begin listing the residential subscribers in directory assistance, this will also start soon as we already do this on the enterprise side.

There was some discussion a couple of months back about customization of OUTGOING callerID. Will we have that capability, even to a limited degree? If not, how will outgoing callerID display?

You will not be able to customize caller ID. Caller ID will display as your phone number.

I think he meant CallerID Name (not CallerID Number).

I thought I had addressed that. CallerID with name will be available when we begin listing customers in directory assistance. They will be listed as their account name. (Perhaps that is the part he was asking?)

Yes Jeff, he's asking whether we can change it!

If we have family or we live with roomates it would be nice if we could change the outgoing CallerID name from "lastname, firstname" to perhaps just "lastname" or a pseudonym like "Dead Hipster".

Or "The lastname Family" etc.

Things do not work this way. Your outbound caller ID must populate a database called LIBBI, this takes several days and there is a fee for populating and changing this database, we absorb that fee when we list you with Directory Assistance.

In getting to the page that shows the services it looks like the got the 12.95 and 19.95 plans partly reversed.
Look at this link »www.broadvoxdirect.com/bd_plan3.html I got to that link by clicking on the left window showing the 5 plans on the main page »www.broadvoxdirect.com/direct.aspx for the 12.95 plan for example.
You know I'm trying to compare their rates with Packet 8 and I trying to justify why is Broadvox going to be better?

The newest version of the site will be posted prior to our taking orders. The site at this moment is still not available to the public, and you are not seeing the newest version.

With regards to pricing, we do not directly compete on price, not price alone anyway. We feel that our quality of service, support, and features speak for themselves.

I also noticed the discrepancy in the $12.95 plan. Does it have unlimited local and regional minutes and 500 ??? minutes a month »www.broadvoxdirect.com/bd_plan3.html or 500 domestic anywhere minutes as it says on the "home" page?

What kind of minutes does the $12.95 plan have: 500 local or 500 anywhere in the US? Do 500 min include incoming calls or only outgoing calls?

Thanks,

Grey

500 anywhere in the US and Canada. Incoming calls are free on all plans, and do not count against minutes of usage.

Jeff, if I go to »www.broadvoxdirect.com/bd_plan3.html to sign up, and click 'click to subscribe', I end up at the 'not currently available' page. Is there another sign-up start page for participants in this forum, or is it just too early in the morning for the pre-launch launch? Thanks.

Jeff referred me to the first post in this thread, which says that the sign-up will start at 12:00 p.m.

I'm looking forward to trying this out. Been with Packet8 since last April and have been happy with them fixing CID (Caller ID) and adding additional features.

I'm extremely impressed by BVDs ability to intelligently route calls based on CID. I'm also hoping that my Series 1 Tivo works on this service. I read that some people have been able to successfully fax using BroadVox Direct.

I am also very happy that Jeff is actively participating on these boards.

Hopefully, Phoenix, Arizona will have local numbers soon.
